On 30 June 2015 was in Slovenia the last lecture of 56-hour financial literacy course for Roma. 20 Roma girls and boys from village Vejar - 13 girls from MS4ROW mentoring system – improved their knowledge about rational management with the family budget through two-monthly intensive training.

Participants were very satisfied with the newly-acquired knowledge, which will help them to handle with money and will also improve their quality of life by saving for better future. On the end of course all participants received certificates for successful work.




Slovenia, 3 July 2015: 8 girls from MS4ROW mentoring system successfully completed two-monthly cooking training and official procedure for gaining national vocational qualification (NVQ). 50-hour training started in May and gived Roma girls new cooking knowledge and useful skills for working as assistant in the kitchen. 

On 8 July 2015 all girls also received official certificate, which will help them on their vocational path in their future. 


On 7 and 8 July 2015 was in Slovenia two-days training for mentors who are daily working with Roma people.  Training was divided into two parts: theoretical and practical work in web application MS4ROW. The main aim of 20-hour workshop was to train mentors who daily work with Roma population.

Center for Education and CultureTrebnje teached other participants from Center for Social Work Črnomelj, Metlika and Trebnje, Kindergarten Metlika, and Union for the Development of the Roma Minority Preporod about project MS4ROW, its idea, teaching approaches and the role of the mentor in the mentoring system. 

The second day we worked together in web application MS4ROW - how to make a virtual classroom, about online learning and monitoring progress of Roma people - and started with instruction for the preparation of case studies which will be made by every participant in their employment context. Every participant will prepare assessment and personal plan for one Roma girls. We completed training with short evaluation of workshop which was in general very positive.





On 23 June 2015 was in Center for Education and Culture Trebnje, Slovenia our guest at monthly workshop Jasmina Ahmetaj, activist for the Roma minority. She is a Roma, born in a Muslim family in Slovenia. Since 2005 she is striving for better life conditions of Roma community. Her main aim is to raise the culture and social capital in an environment where Roma people are living. She also wrote and published the novel ‘’The girl with candies’’.

Jasmina Ahmedaj presented her life story, history, culture and values of Roma people. We also discussed about stereotypes, discrimination and the role of Roma girls in community. We were all impressed by her enthusiasm and positive energy.






While you can feel the relaxation of primary and secondary pupils in the air at the approach of the end of the school year, 20 Roma girls and boys from the village Vejar, among them 13 girls from MS4ROW mentoring system, are diligently attending the 56-hour intensive training of financial literacy, which began in May and will last until the last day of the June 2015.

How to detect increasing deception and tricks of vendors, how to plan rationally spendings of the family budget, how to distinguish between own desires and needs, how to optimize purchasing habits and save ... All of these are contents that the participants learn about at the practical training, which is implemented in collaboration with RIC Novo mesto carried out at the Centre for education and Culture Trebnje within a mentoring system MS4ROW.
